'Kunst und Künstler im zentralen Hochland von Papua-Neuguinea' by Heinz-Christian Dosedla, pg. 87-120., Tribus Sep 1978, Sep 1978, 97-98. 3.8 'Gestelle mit zeichenhafter Bedeutung', describes 'ghost boards' and 'peace boards' made by the Gende people following peace between warring tribes. Illustration 7 shows a 'Friedensmal' or 'peace memorial' with a carved board topped by symbolic plants, similar in form to this 'stake'.
