About
Akiyama Iwao sought spiritual meaning through walking, drinking and poetry. He learned drawing with a Buddhist monk as a child and later trained as a painter before studying woodblock printing under the renowned artist Munakata Shikō (1903–75). Snow continues to fall depicts a monk making a pilgrimage up Mount Fuji in the snow. The text, by Taneda Santōka (1881–1940), is a haiku that reads ‘Throughout life’s journey, snow continues to fall’.
