    This bowl is decorated with 'kinrande' (gold brocade), a style of Ming Jingdezhen porcelain decorated with overglaze enamels and gold favoured by the Japanese. Another feature of this style is the 'akadama', or 'red dot pattern'. These techniques and designs were incorporated into Japanese porcelain from the late 1600s.
