About
'The distinguished artist Nie Ou was born in Liaoning province in northeast China. By the age of 12 she excelled in the basic techniques of drawing, Western oil painting and later in woodcuts. In spite of the deprivations during the Cultural Revolution, she found lasting inspiration in the countryside and developed her distinctive, contemporary and spacious style of ink painting.'
