  • About

    Tanabe is now living in Kanagawa Prefecture where he was born. He was trained at Tohoku University in Sendai in northern Japan. Most of his recent prints have been based on contrasting linear grid patterns. He prints in black alone, leaving the natural colour of the paper as the contrasting white. He enjoys the optical effects created by his prints as well as their elegant minimalism and sense of distance. The black is the reverse of the white, its after-image or shadow. The relationship of the two reverse halves has been mathematically calculated.
