Title

Bowl depicting two dragons and two flaming pearls

Artist

Jingdezhen ware

China

About

On the exterior of this fine example of imperial blue and white porcelain, two five-clawed dragons are each chasing a flaming pearl. The excellent detail of the dragons, especially their scales and claws suggests a great influence of imperial paintings on porcelain design.

Asian Art Department, AGNSW, January 2012
