About
This rare wood engraving by Nora Heysen, painter and draughtswoman, is the only impression known, and was made the year of her first solo exhibition in 1932. The subject is the trees surrounding her home ‘The Cedars’ at Hahndorf in South Australia, where she lived with her family. Heysen is
not known to have made any other prints apart from a small etching of trees, which was printed after her death from a plate
found in her estate. Both are in the Gallery’s collection.from Anne Ryan, 'Australian etchings and engravings 1880s–1930s from the Gallery's collection', AGNSW, Sydney 2007
