About
This is the most ambitious of Aspden’s forays into printmaking, which he practised mainly in the 1970s. Its raw quality, in both the jagged cutting of the block and the rough wood grain of the block’s surface, suggests the appeal these materials had for the artist, as well as his skill in counterpointing positive and negative space and suspending forms within a composition.
