My paintings frequently shift between the figurative and the abstract as they experiment with the placement of figures in a landscape. My themes are mythology and the metaphors we construct in order to make sense of man in nature - and, equally, the presence of nature in man.
'Hidden memories, secret lives' retains many of my previous concerns but also makes reference to personal and universal journeys, and to notions of loss, regret and secrets, and to aloneness and separation - the things of everyday life. These issues are personal and yet common to all of us. To a greater or lesser degree, in one way or another we share them all.
