    This jar is of ovoid shape with a tall cylindrical neck, flaring mouth and two loop handles at its shoulder. It is decorated with an incised wave pattern at the neck, and two pairs of bands on the shoulder, neck and lip only with a greenish-brown glaze apparently formed by kiln ash. This piece is important as an early example of the Chinese glazed stoneware tradition that would continue for centuries. This use of chance glazing must have been employed for its decorative effect as the Chinese had developed more controlled methods of glazing by this time.

    Jar with narrow neck and flaring lip; two loop-handles at shoulder. Grey stoneware; glazed on shoulder, neck and lip only with greenish-brown glaze apparently formed by kiln ash. Decorated with incised wave pattern at neck, two pairs of bands on shoulder and floral motif on loop-handles. Heavy finger ribbing on bottom half of jar. Turned base.
