About
One of Charlet’s most famous subjects showing an incident from the Napoleonic wars. While pictures of Napoleon himself were not favoured by the Restoration Monarchy, depictions of the heroism of the common soldier and the ‘Grande Armée’ were evocative of a recent and glorious past and enjoyed wide popularity.
