About
Proof of this is the print titled Electing Leaders by Casting Beans which differs from the same title shown in the catalogue Selected Woodcuts by Yan Hanpage24. For example in the Gallery print, the figure sixth from the left has a bald head, whereas the print shown in the catalogue shows the same figure with a full head of hair. Again, on the Gallery print the text Long live the Communist Party! on the far left back wall Long live the Communist Party! is not carved in full and is written in a vertical style. In the catalogue it has changed to a horizontal style of writing and the text is here fully written. The artist insists the Gallerys print dates to 1947(as he has inscribed it in pencil) whilst the one in the catalogue is dated in 1948. According to the artist Yan Han, the work now owned by the Gallery is the Authentic work. The print shown in the catalogue Selected Woodcuts by Yan Han was altered to suit propaganda purposes.
