About
The artist has depicted a djendek or sand palm (Livistona humilis). The palm heart is a popular food when the palm is still very young - the palm is cut down at the top and the juicy, inner heart peeled out. It has a sweet taste. The djendek leaves are also stripped of their outer layers, and then dyed and used in weaving.
