  • About

Series like this one combine two popular genres of 'ukiyoe' woodblock prints: 'bijinga' (beautiful women) and 'meisho-e' (representations of famous places). However, there are no apparent connections between the depicted beautiful woman, whose main function is to ‘display’ the most fashionable garments, hairstyle and accessories, and the landscape in the cartouche, chosen for its scenic beauty and promoted as a popular tourist destination.
