About
It's the kind of country you have to be born into – or be just plain 'hardy', but tremendously attractive to look at – the fascinating patches of snow form themselves into very inventive shapes.
- Fred Williams 1975Fred Williams and his family took a holiday at the Kosciuszko National Park in January 1975. Although it was mid summer, the weather was unseasonably cold and there were traces of snow on the peaks. Williams made a number of studies of the landscape in acrylic and then gouache. This work depicts a sudden summer snowstorm.
