  • About

    The jar has a bulbous body with a short straight neck and scalloped mouth. The body is divided into lobes by six vertical indentations. A black glaze runs over the mouth and covers the exterior body, ending unevenly above the spreading foot to expose the grey stoneware body. Black-glazed ceramics are the third largest group of Song monochrome wares, after the green and the white. The current example was probably manufactured in Henan province.
