  • About

COTMAN was the most prolific etcher of the Norwich School, completing more than 370 plates of landscape and architectural subjects. Cotman took up etching to further his reputation and gain a wider circulation of his work. His first series, ‘Miscellaneous Etchings’ was published in 1811. Cotman set high store on his graphic work and devoted more and more of his time to it. ‘West front, Binham Priory’ is plate 13 from Cotman’s 1818 collection, the ‘Architectural Antiquities of Norfolk’.
