  • About

Born in Lyon, APPIAN studied in Paris with Corot and Daubigny returning to work in his home town in the early 1860s when the Etching Revival was at its height in France. Although known primarily as a painter and etcher he also made some remarkable charcoal drawings. Many of his prints are translations of his paintings and drawings. This plate was etched after a painting exhibited in the ‘Societe des Amis des Arts de Lyon’ in 1865.
