    Beryl Jimmy, Bronwyn Jimmy, Imitjala Pollard and Anne Dixon paint collaboratively as the Watarru collective. The four sisters are the daughters of senior law woman and noted artist, Wipana Jimmy, who played a crucial role alongside other senior community members in the establishment of the Watarru homeland during the mid 1980s.

    Beryl Jimmy, Bronwyn Jimmy, Imitjala Pollard and Anne Dixon are based at Watarru, giving their collective its name and began painting following the establishment of Tjungu Palya art centre in 2006. Tjungu Palya is based in Nypari community, which is located at the base of the Mann Ranges in the Pitjantatjara lands of far north-west South Australia, and services the communities of Kanpi, Nyapari, Angatja and Watarru.

    The works of the Watarru collective offer complex representations of country. 'Wati Ngintaka' 2013 offer a lively depiction of the travels of the old lizard man as he traverses the country and celebrates the diverse vegetation and geography through which he travels. His travels are rendered in stark black, which contrasts strongly with the brilliant off white and brilliant colours of the surrounding country.
