The Art Gallery of New South Wales has an extensive collection of artworks, many of which are reproduced in the collection area of this website. The collection includes: Asian Art, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Art, Australian Art, International Art and Photography. The photography collection also includes a substantial number of historical images. The Gallery's Rights and Reproductions department supplies photographic materials of works in the collection for a range of uses. Fees are structured on the use and market for the publication or product and quotes can be provided by the Image Reproduction Officer. Due to cultural issues, some works in the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander collection or photographs of Indigenous ceremonies or people may not be available for reproduction. Copyright
This department can supply details of copyright holders where possible. It is the responsibility of the client to gain clearance to reproduce, in writing, from the copyright holder of the works requested. A copy of the permission to reproduce must be forwarded to this department before photographic material can be released. Publications, multimedia and products
For publications and products we supply high resolution 300dpi digital files on CD or black & white prints. For decorative purposes only we supply both colour and black & white display quality prints which are available on matte or gloss paper. Please note that the Gallery does not usually provide display-quality prints of photographs in the collection and you will be directed to either the photographer or a relevant art dealer or print supplier where possible. For publications and products, a usage fee is charged, dependent on print run and the nature of the proposed market. Concessions may be available in certain situations. Please contact the Image Reproduction Officer for a quote. How to order an image - Download the appropriate application form above, complete and fax to the Image Reproduction Officer on (02) 9225 1701.
- Your application will be confirmed, a quote provided and a Tax Invoice will be issued.
- On receipt of payment, you will be advised of an estimated delivery date. Please allow adequate time for the job to be completed.
- On completion of the job, the material will be sent to you by Australia Post or by email if requested. Please note that all orders incur a postage and handling fee if sent by post.
