Sam Smith in conversation
Artist Sam Smith talks to Anneke Jaspers, the Gallery’s assistant curator of contemporary art
The exhibition Sam Smith: Cameraman relaunches the Gallery’s Contemporary Projects series.
Sydney-based artist Sam Smith has long been interested in the capacity of moving images to manipulate our sense of time and space and to absorb viewers into fictitious realms. Having worked exclusively in video in the past, Cameraman is the first project in which he has shot on both video and celluloid film, bringing a new dimension to his exploration of cinematic conventions in an era of digital production. In this talk, Smith discusses his project and practice.
