Pablo Picasso and Francis Bacon
Introducing ‘Francis Bacon: five decades’
As we bid farewell to Picasso: masterpieces from the Musée National Picasso, Paris, we look forward to the next major exhibition, Francis Bacon: five decades, which opens on the 17 November 2012.
Francis Bacon is widely acknowledged as the most important figurative painter after Picasso. Bacon himself made no secret of the fact that he was greatly influenced by Picasso, even stating that it was after seeing an exhibition of Picasso’s drawings in 1927 that he decided to become an artist.
Join curatorial staff for a talk introducing this exciting new exhibition and the interesting relationships between Bacon and Picasso.
