Music of France
Presented by Pinchgut Opera and the Art Gallery Society of NSW in association with ABC Classic FM
A special concert to celebrate ABC’s Classic 100 countdown: Music of France, and Pinchgut’s 2012 French baroque opera Castor & Pollux, will be held in the beautiful Old Courts at the Art Gallery of NSW.
Before the concert, there will be a champagne reception and a private viewing of the exhibition Eugène Atget: old Paris. Lose yourself in the beauty of old Paris with over 200 rare and original prints by visionary documentary photographer, Eugène Atget (1857–1927).
Then sit down to experience the music of France with some of the finest musicians of Pinchgut Opera. Soprano Celeste Lazarenko, music director and harpsichordist Erin Helyard, and players from Pinchgut Opera will perform works by Rameau, Lully, Mondonville and other composers.
The evening will be a wonderful immersive experience in all things French. We do hope you can join us.
