One of the Gallery’s Japanese-speaking guides will meet you at the information desk then introduce you to selected works on display in Theatre of dreams, theatre of play: nō and kyōgen in Japan.

Nō and kyōgen are examples of Japan’s traditional arts. The beauty of the robes and the charm of the masks and the imaginative stories go without saying. You can also appreciate nō and kyōgen in prints and paintings in the exhibition, which is the first time any of these works have been seen in Australia.
