Get into the swing

Live music and swing dancing, starting with a dance lesson

In a special collaboration, vocalist and trombonist Dan Barnett will lead The Swinging Blades as swing dancers fill the Gallery entrance court and dance the night away. A short lesson in the basic steps of swing dancing will be provided by Swing Patrol before Dan and The Blades kick off so everyone can feel confident to join in!

The Swinging Blades is a hard swinging band playing nothing but great old music from the golden age of jazz. Featuring National Jazz Award-winning musicians, The Blades swing their way through the American songbook with unwavering energy.

Dan Barnett began his musical life as a trombonist and quickly developed a love for singing. He has carved out an enviable reputation on the Australian music scene working and recording with some of the greats in Australian and world music including James Morrison, INXS, Jack Johnson, Paul Kelly and Boy George.
