Exhibition talk: Francis Bacon in love
Macushla Robinson, assistant curator
Francis Bacon once commented that 'people go to bars to be closer to each other. The frustration is that people can never be close enough to each other. If you’re in love you can’t break down the barriers of the skin.’
This talk will examine Francis Bacon’s work through the lens of love. Drawing on the artist’s own relationships, each of which dominated a decade of his life, it will untangle Bacon’s understanding of desire, love and loss.
