Exhibition talk by Edmund Capon and John Kaldor
Gallery director Edmund Capon and John Kaldor introduce the new contemporary galleries.
John Kaldor, Sydney collector and director of Kaldor Public Art Projects, and his family announced their intention to give the John Kaldor Family Collection of more than 200 works, valued at $35 million, to the state of NSW in 2008. This was the catalyst for the government to provide funds to the Gallery to build a state-of-the-art offsite storage facility to allow space within the Gallery to display the collection. With this extraordinary gift, the Gallery now holds Australia’s most comprehensive representation of contemporary art from the 1960s to the present day. Join Edmund Capon and John Kaldor in a discussion of the new contemporary galleries.
