The Big Picture BOOKED OUT
The legacy of Genghis Khan in Islamic Iran, 1256-1353
The Art Gallery Society proudly introduces The Big Picture, an occasional series of free lectures for members.
In this first Big Picture lecture, Dr Stefano Carboni, director of the Art Gallery of Western Australia and an expert in Islamic art, will explore the legacy of Genghis Khan and the rich artistic and cultural life of his time.
In a lifetime characterised by war and conquest, Genghis Khan created the largest contiguous land empire in human history, a Mongol confederacy that was ruled by his family over a century. During this peaceful time, people, portable objects and ideas moved with unparalleled freedom from the Pacific Ocean to the Black Sea.
Refreshments will be served after the lecture.
