Drop in and learn about shield carving

Murruwaygu: following in the footsteps of our ancestors celebrates the Aboriginal culture of south-east Australia by exploring one particular strand of Koori art practice – the use of line by male artists.

Drop in to the exhibition between 11am and 1pm to see Ngemba artist Andrew Snelgar demonstrate the techniques and processes of shield carving used in the south-east. These skills, including carving, shaping and engraving of linear designs, exemplify the ongoing artistic cultural practices of this region.
