Looking at the portraits of Joy Hester, we create a self-portrait, revealing emotion, in black ink and wash, using quick, spontaneous lines.

Dragons are symbolic creatures in the folklore and mythology of Vietnam and feature frequently in Vietnamese ceramics. After a visit to the Asian gallery we sculpt a dragon out of clay.

Inspired by Renaissance artists, we draw clasped hands with charcoal, using light and shade to create depth and feeling.

Studying the work of Paul Klee, we use coloured inks to create an inspired monoprint using a printing press.

Using a printing press we produce a drypoint etching looking at our own Sydney city landscape and drawing from the Gallery space. We are inspired to view through a window, a theme often used by artists.

Looking at Albert Tucker’s Apocalyptic horse, we produce a chalk pastel study of an animal head using a coloured ground.

Using recycled wooden blocks, we create a small assemblage, studying Rosalie Gascoigne’s work, which often included letters and word fragments.

After looking at the work of Frank Stella, we select one primary colour to paint a gradated square, learning about colour.

Looking at animals in art, we will create a series of studies based on the bone structure of a fish skeleton.

With watercolour paints we create a harmonious abstract painting, based on the colours of the spectrum and focusing on the artist Roy de Maistre.
