For over 2000 years the silken trade routes linked the Mediterranean world with the kingdoms of Central Asia and the Far East. Traders and spies, adventurers, rogues and missionaries all wandered its many paths spreading goods, artistic styles, ideas and faiths throughout one of the great melting pots of the ancient world.
