AGS scholarship talk

Exploring PNG: following the past into the present

The 2011 Art Gallery Society professional development scholarship recipient Natalie Wilson, assistant curator of Australian art, will talk about her recent travel to Papua New Guinea, one of the world’s least explored regions.

Her journey on the Sepik River and to the mountainous Highlands region, culminating in the spectacular Goroka cultural festival, will be illustrated with a vibrant array of images.

Natalie will also discuss works from the Gallery’s collection which were collected by former deputy director, Tony Tuckson, during his own 1965 Sepik expedition, and those which form the Stanley Moriarty collection of PNG art.
