    The big cats: lions and tigers

    We begin with the basic shapes and gradually start adding tone and depth as we explore texture and pattern, to finally bring forth individual character and expression. Using charcoal, graphite and chalk pastel, you will capture not only a sense of three-dimensional form, but learn to exploit expressive mark making to convey character.

    Ways of abstracting 1

    Working from images created using the imagination and images created by referencing the physical environment, different approaches to make abstract paintings will be demonstrated: anything from 'realistic’ drawing through to expressionist abstract splashes, dripping, scraping and collaging.
