EXHIBITIONS

This exhibition of the Australian Bookbinders focuses on contemporary practice in the art form known as design binding. On display are 32 books with unique bindings created by 20 artists.

    Expatriate American director Joseph Losey was a long-time resident in Britain. His 1963 film is a sly allegory of class conflict, in which a manservant, newly employed by a wealthy socialite, orchestrates a game of role reversal that develops into a highly charged love-hate relationship. Scripted by Nobel Prize-winning playwright and screenwriter Harold Pinter.

    Simon Barker, Matt McMahon and Phil Slater have been recording and performing as Band of Five Names for over ten years. The band has released four recordings, the most recent being Empty Gardens (2006). The band has recorded music for several award-winning documentaries and has been commissioned to compose and perform music for theatre and radio.

    Artist Badger Bates continues the unbroken practice of creating traditional artefacts. In 1991 he was encouraged to work with linocuts and printing, a new medium that retains the traditional process of carving and quickly became Bates’s most recognised practice for the way it captures his style and vision. Join him as he discusses his work in the Home exhibition.
