Rarely seen outside of India. 9 - 26 Jan, Tue & Sat 1pm-3pm Interpretation from the Bengali Association Learn about the significance of the Durga festival from community members. Sun 21 Jan, 3pm-4.30pm Chakshudan Painting the eye ceremony Behind a curtain the eyes of the Goddess are painted in by the master craftsman and revealed with a fanfare of drums. Tue 23 - Thu 25 Jan, 11am & 12.30pm Drummers from Bengal Dhaki drummers always accompany worship of the Goddess Durga. See this family of five and their range of different drums. Fri 26 Jan - Australia Day, 11am - 2pm Durga Festival Farewell the Goddess as she leaves the Gallery, with offerings of flowers and fruit, drumming and dance in celebrations led by the Indian community.
