The Art Gallery of New South Wales is thrilled to announce that entry to the Brett Whiteley Studio will be free of charge from Saturday 21 April 2007. The Studio is a tribute to the life of Brett Whiteley, one of Australia's most gifted, best known and controversial artists. He converted the former warehouse into a studio and exhibition space where he lived and worked for four years from 1988-1992. The Studio provides a unique glimpse into Brett Whiteley' s private world. Sketchbooks, paintings, furniture and memorabilia including postcards and photographs are as he left them. Music is played from his personal collection. 9 Shades of Whiteley, a mini-retrospective exhibition tracing the artist' s life and career has been extended until 9 September 2007 due to strong public interest. Free admission for the next three years made possible by JPMorgan. Brett Whiteley Studio 2 Raper Street, Surry Hills, Sydney Parking in the surrounding streets is difficult.
