Wanderlust: the desire to travel ...
And travel I did - a ten-month odyssey around the world as a fifteen-year-old. Influenced by Rauchenberg, I created an eclectic mix of glorious colours and collaged images organised in layers to become a metaphor for the multidimensional experiences I enjoyed and wanted to share.
- Elysha Hickey

FRAMING QUESTION

Colour is a dominant element in both of these abstract paintings. Analyse the subtleties of paint application and arrangement of colour planes to create a harmonious and vibrant work. What is your emotional response to these works? Consider the works in relation to the rational and expressionist traditions of abstraction in western painting.
