More information >

My works reflect colours and textures of Australian native flora, inspired by eucalypts and the rich textures and forms created through seasonal shedding of their bark. To recreate this, I used porcelain slip cast and manipulated form with underglaze and glaze. The Blue Gum (Eucalyptus Saligna), Grey Gum (E Punctata) and Ghost Gum (E Papuana) influenced colour and construction.

FRAMING QUESTION

Compare the representations of Australian flora in these two works, in particular the depiction of gum trees. Look closely at the surface quality, irregularities and individuality of each 'tree'. Analyse how the different media have been explored to recreate the character of the Australian bush landscape.
