Arrive alive is the youth road safety program of the Motor Accidents Authority of NSW (MAA). The MAA is the NSW Government department that looks after the Compulsory Third Party (CTP) personal injury insurance scheme in NSW (known as Greenslips).

The MAA is concerned about the over-representation of young people aged 17 to 25 in road crashes. Since the CTP scheme was established young people have accounted for almost one quarter of the total cost of claims (over $2 billion).

Young drivers in this age group are at a higher risk of crashing than drivers of older ages for lots of reasons, including inexperience, attitudes to driving and a tendency towards risk taking behaviour.

Data from the RTA shows that in 2001 young people in NSW represented 15 per cent of all licensed drivers and riders but accounted for 27 per cent of all road traffic casualties (killed and injured).

That's where Arrive alive comes in: The MAA has a major commitment to improving youth road safety in NSW, and recognises that achieving this requires effective communication with young people about risk taking on the roads. Arrive alive includes a range of youth road safety programs that reflect common interest areas for young people. These programs aim to involve young people in activities they enjoy while positively influencing attitudes and behaviours on the roads. The three key areas of the Arrive alive program are: Arts alive, Sports alive and Music alive.
