The Art Gallery is pleased to provide the services of the Gallery's available specialist staff to give opinions on works of art to members of the public. This service is free of charge and is held each Thursday morning from 10am to 12 noon in the Gallery Research Library.

Opinions on works of art are given under the following conditions:

1. The opinions given by the professional staff are their own judgements and no responsibility can be accepted by them or by the Gallery.
2. Opinions will be given only on works already owned by the person making the enquiry and not for intended purchases.
3. Valuations on works of art cannot be given.
4. Opinions will not be given to artists on the quality of their own work.

Works held for examination will not be held overnight within the Gallery unless requested by staff. All care will be taken with such works but no responsibility can be held for loss or damage.

Please note: The service is not available over the Christmas/New Year period. Visitors are advised to call the Research Library on (02) 9225 1785 for confirmation during December to January.
