Brett Whiteley Travelling Art Scholarship | top

The Brett Whiteley Studio, administered by the Art Gallery of New South Wales, invites applications for a major Travelling art scholarship for artists aged between 20 and 30. The Scholarship consists of $25,000 and a three-month residency at the Studio at the Cité Internationale des Arts, Paris. - Further details (on the Brett Whiteley Studio website: www.brettwhiteley.org).

Artists are awarded a two-monthly or three -monthly tenancy in either art studio at the Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris. Scholars in the visual arts may also apply. No rent is payable by the chosen tenant, however a fee is due to the Cité authorities for monthly maintenance. The trust provides no financial assistance. Six to twelve photographs of recent work must be included with the completed application form. | A grant offered to Australian art students who have already won a travelling scholarship, to assist with the cost of overseas travel. This enables them to better study architecture, sculpture or painting in countries other than Australia or New Zealand. The grant is offered Australia-wide, and the funding is up to $5000. Condition of entry is that the applicant has already been awarded a competitive travelling scholarship. The closing date is 30 June each year.

The Basil and Muriel Hooper Scholarship | top

An annual scholarship of $4000, aimed at fine art students attending recognised schools in New South Wales to assist with costs of fees and general living expenses. Applicants must have completed at least one year of full time study. The scholarship is not available to any student already holding another scholarship. Students are required to submit two examples of their work, along with the completed application form, containing a report from the Head of their School of Art. - 2009 application form available soon

The Elioth Gruner Prize | top

An annual prize of $1000, for the best study of a landscape in oils. The applicant must be an art student who has lived in New South Wales for at least 5 years before entering the competition. Applicant must submit two landscapes, painted in oils, along with the completed application form, including a statutory declaration. - 2009 application form available soon

Robert Le Gay Brereton Memorial Prize | top

An annual prize of $800, awarded to art students exhibiting skill and promise in the area of draughtsmanship.
Applicants are required to submit: - Two life figure drawings, one of each sex
- One study of hands and feet
- One or two studies of a head
- One, or not more than two, sketch books or portfolios containing any subjects
